Jharkhand has made a remarkable mark on the international film platform, with five films from the state selected from 155 films at the Veda Dock Bazaar 2026. The selected films include Mati, directed by Nayan Priya, Jharkhand Election, directed by Vivek Upadhyay, and Uljhan, directed by Prasur Ranjan. These films showcase different aspects of Jharkhand, including its villages, people, culture, elections and social realities. The selection was made under an initiative associated with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and NFDC, aimed at providing filmmakers opportunities to connect with international markets, funding and global audiences. This achievement highlights the richness of Jharkhand’s stories and gives local filmmakers a platform to take their unique narratives to audiences around the world.

An absolute pleasure meeting Vishal Verma, one of Bhojpuri cinema’s finest directors. Recently, he was honored with the Best Director (Bhojpuri) award at INCA 2026 for his film “Hamar Naam Ba Kanhaiya”. Some directors create films. Others create emotions that stay with audiences long after the credits roll. Vishal Ji belongs to the latter.
